FUTURE LEADERS: Residents/Fellows

 

The DePuy Spine FUTURE LEADERS program is an educational program available to surgeons in training in orthopaedics and neurosurgery focusing on the subspecialty of spine surgery. This program is also available to surgeons who have graduated from a residency program or fellowship within the last three years.

 

This program is designed to enhance the educational experience of the surgeon by providing training opportunities that offer hands-on training and information on topics not currently available to the participants in their programs.

 


 

Annual Course Offerings

 

The following courses are held annually.  Please check the calendar for specific dates and locations.

 

Neurosurgery Residents Education Summit

 

Who Should Attend: Neurosurgical residents scheduled to graduate from their residency program within the next two years.

 

Course Information & Objectives: This course covers many aspects of spine surgery through faculty lectures, case-based exercises, hands-on cadaver lab, and group discussions. A small segment will include post-residency practice management considerations.


The objectives of this course are to enhance the knowledge and skills of the neurosurgery resident in the treatment of spinal pathologies. Specifically, this course seeks to inform and instruct the residents on current techniques in spine surgery and to provide a conducive learning environment.

 

 

Pre-Fellowship Bioskills Workshop

 

Who Should Attend: Incoming Spine Fellows, prior to beginning their fellowship year.


Course Information & Objectives: The faculty for this training course consists of the medical directors from select institutions. This course offers the incoming fellow a valuable opportunity to work with select medical directors prior to the start of the fellowship year, thereby accelerating the progress along the learning curve.

This training course is designed to comprehensively cover anterior & posterior approaches to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.

 

 

Advanced Concepts in Spine Surgery Workshop

 

Who Should Attend: Spine Fellows, during their fellowship year.


Course Information & Objectives: Fellow have the opportunity to learn the latest surgical techniques in many areas using new technologies such as MIS, Lumbar Arthroplasty, Vertebroplasty, and more. A small portion of this meeting is also dedicated to practice related topics, such as, things to consider when looking for a job, contract negotiations, and how to market your spine practice.
