Through educational grants to CEU Institute, DePuy Spine sponsors a number of spine surgery courses (introductory and advanced) tailored specifically to RNs, PAs, RNFAs, and CSTs.

Spine Fundamentals: Surgical Solutions for Spinal Pathologies    

 

Course Description  

CEU Institute is a nationally accredited provider of CE credits, offering free accreditation to nurses (PA’s and CSTs in some states). Spine Fundamentals: Surgical Solutions for Spine Pathologies is 4.0 contact hours and supported by an educational grant from DePuy Spine.  


Course Goals & Objectives

  • Upon completion of this course, healthcare providers will have a better understanding of:

  • Post-operative care

  • Spinal anatomy and biomechanics related to: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum/coccyx, nerve roots, vertebral features and discs

  • Foundational spine pathology such as: degenerative diseases, spondylolysis, scoliosis, deformity, trauma, infection, osteoporosis, tumors, and inflammatory disease

  • Surgical solutions for the spine: laminectomy, discectomy, anterior and posterior fusions, disc arthroplasty, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, and interdiscal electo-thermo therapy

RN, LPN, ARNP, CAN & AORN Nurses (PA’s and CSTs in some states)

 
Recommended Prerequisites
Online CE’s for 1.0 CE contact hours each available at
SpineCME.org on the following:  

  • Spinal Biomechanics
  • Musculature of the Lumbar Spine
  • Scoliosis & Spinal Deformity – Diagnosis & Treatment

Advanced Spine: Cervical and MIS

Course Description
CEU Institute is a nationally accredited provider of CE credits, offering free accreditation to nurses (PA’s and CSTs in some states). The Advanced Spine Cervical and MIS course is 4.0 contact hours and supported by an educational grant from DePuy Spine.

Course Goals & Objectives
At the end of this program, healthcare providers will have a better understanding of:  

  • Cervical anatomy, biomechanics of movement and decompression

  • Lumbar anatomy, biomechanics of movement and decompression

  • Deformity of the spine

  • Minimally invasive surgery patient selection

  • Interpretation of radiological images of the spine and deformities
